Woman assaulted on Ganatchio Trail in 2017 has died

The victim of what police described as a "vicious attack" on the Ganatchio Trail in Windsor last year has died.

Mayor Drew Dilkens is planning a walk on the Ganatchio Trail Sunday in support of a 75-year-old woman who was assaulted on Sept. 8.

Anne Widholm was attacked on that Ganatchio Trail on October 8, 2017 according to Windsor Police Services.

A 21-year-old Windsor man has been arrested and is in police custody after a 75-year-old woman was found unconscious along the Ganatchio Trail in the city’s east end.

Widholm, who was attacked Oct. 8, 2017 on the Ganatchio Trail, died on the weekend.

Police have since added one count of murder in the second degree to Habibullah&nbsp;Ahmadi's charges.&nbsp;

Ahmadi was originally charged with aggravated assault. A charge of attempted murder was added later.&nbsp;

Community gathers in support of 75-year-old woman assaulted on Ganatchio Trail

Hundreds of people gathered in solidarity to walk the Ganatchio Trail to show support for 75-year-old Anne Widholm, who was brutally assaulted in the area last Sunday morning.

Mayor Drew Dilkens invited members of Neighbourhood Watch, Windsor Police and the public to join him in showing the city’s parks and pathways are safe and as a way of offering support to the victim.
