Six-week-old dogs were found in a cardboard box at East Hills Costco
The Calgary Humane Society is looking for leads after two puppies were found in a cardboard box at the East Hills Costco.
According to the society, someone found the puppies and turned them in on the afternoon of Nov. 30.
"The abandonment of six-week-old puppies in freezing temperatures is not only a callous act, but, frankly, a criminal one," said Brad Nichols, senior manager of animal cruelty investigations in a news release.
"The age of the puppies and the low temperatures of the day could have had a catastrophic outcome had they not been found so quickly and turned in. There is absolutely no excuse for this when the city has such robust Humane Society support."
Anyone with information on who might have left the puppies in the parking lot is asked to contact the Calgary Human Society at 403-205-4455 or online at calgaryhumane.ca.
