Former trailer park residents find new homes, but pay financial, emotional toll

The closure of a Summerside trailer park has scattered the residents that used to form the community there. They’ve found new places to live, but the cost has been high, financially and emotionally.

The problem of low supply and high demand is making it very difficult for people to find rental housing, a problem that's not expected to change in the next couple of years.

70-year old Sally Ellis has congestive heart failure and needs a main floor apartment. She can't stay with friends much longer and says she's stressed out because she can't find a place of her own. 

A public forum held Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at The Farm Centre in Charlottetown, in which audience members were&nbsp;invited&nbsp;to share their experiences, express their opinions&nbsp;or ask questions of the panellists.

September tourism report for P.E.I. suggests shifting patterns

September contributed to another strong year for P.E.I. tourism traffic, but a key indicator of the money spent by those visitors — overnight stays — is still down.

Keith Sigsworth, the toll traffic supervisor for Strait Crossing, the company that runs the bridge says fewer drivers are using cash.

Island ATV federation pushing for tip-to-tip trail system

P.E.I.'s ATV federation is calling on the provincial government to help develop a legal, tip-to-tip trail system for riders.The federation says in the past three years, its club members have created more than 200 kilometres of designated ATV trails, through agreements with private property owners.
