CBC North hosted a live blog and a live election night special Monday evening

Monday was election day for six municipalities across the Northwest Territories, and CBC North was there with results, highlights, and reaction every step of the way, with a live blog and live Northbeat election special.

CBC North's live blog was hosted by copy editor Garrett Hinchey(external link). Beginning at 8 p.m. MT, the blog brought up-to-the-minute results from communities across the territory.

On television

Northbeat host Juanita Taylor hosted a special live broadcast at 11 p.m. MT, where she discussed results from across the North. Juanita was joined by former Yellowknife mayor Gordon Van Tighem for his reaction to the night's events.

The morning after

On Tuesday morning, tune into The Trailbreaker on CBC North Radio One for interviews with winning candidates. Fort Simpson mayor-elect Sean Whelly will speak with Loren McGinnis at 6:50 a.m., while Yellowknife's Rebecca Alty will be on-air at 7:15. At 7:50, Norman Wells mayor-elect Frank Pope will be on the program.
Inuvik mayor-elect Natasha Kulikowski will be on CBC Radio's noon-hour program Northwind Tuesday, and Fort Smith mayor-elect Lynn Napier-Buckley will be on Trail's End, which begins at 4 p.m. MT.
