Riley Brockington re-elected in River ward

Nearest rival Fabien Kalala Cimankinda would have been Ottawa's 1st black councillor

Riley Brockington will represent River ward​ for the next four years.
Brockington has 54.5 per cent of the vote with all polls reporting. His nearest challenger, Fabien Kalala Cimankinda, took 21.8 per cent.
CBC was unable to reach Brockington Monday evening.
Cimankinda would have been the city's first black councillor had he been successful. Speaking to supporters after the results became known, he said the campaign was only the start of more change for the city.
"It is really incredible, what we have been able to do together. It is not an end. It is a beginning."
The city clerk is expected to declare the results official by Thursday.
Brockington has represented the riding since 2014.
