Dudas secures 41.4% of the vote
Laura Dudas will represent Innes ward for the next four years, according to the unofficial results.
With all 96 polls counted, Dudas has 41.4 per cent of the vote and a more than 1,600-vote lead over her closest rival, Donna Leith-Gudbranson.
"I'm just so excited I can barely talk," Dudas said soon after the results poured in.
"Even after having lost last time I went right back into the community, continue to volunteer, be engaged and I really wanted to make sure I represented the needs of our area," Dudas said.
"I cannot wait to get to work for this area."
In March, Jody Mitic announced he would not seek re-election in order to focus on his family and personal health. In June, a formal leave of absence was approved, and three other councillors took over his files.
The other two candidates who fought Dudas and Leith-Gudbranson for the seat were Tammy Lynch and François Trépanier.
The city clerk is expected to declare the official results by Thursday.
