Paul Harbridge is a Toronto-based author and illustrator originally from Muskoka, Ont., whose work is influenced by the lakes and forests he grew up around.
His first picture book was When The Moon Comes, a story about a group of friends whose anticipation of winter slowly builds as they wait for their local lake to freeze over so they can play hockey on its moonlit ice. The book was named a finalist for the Governor General's Literary Award for young people's literature — illustrated books.
When The Moon Comes was also a finalist for the 2018 TD Canadian Children's Literature Award and won the Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award at the 2018 award ceremony.
His second children's book, Out Into the Big Wide Lake, was the winner of the 2022 Ezra Jack Keats Award for writing, and was nominated for the 2021 Governor General's Literary Award for young people's literature — illustrated books.
