Confident Mo Ahmed seeking elusive Diamond League win in Brussels

Four Canadian track and field athletes will be vying for a $50,000 US top prize and coveted trophy in their respective disciplines at the AG Memorial Van Damme Diamond League final in Brussels on Friday. (CBCSports.ca, 2 p.m. ET).

Canada’s Mo Ahmed competes at his second Diamond League final in the men’s 5,000 metres on Friday in Brussels. Last year in Zurich, he crossed the finish line sixth but was awarded fifth place following the disqualification of American Paul Chelimo.

Shawn Barber just wants to 'jump big bars' again

Canadian pole vaulter Shawn Barber cleared 5.83 metres to earn a third-place finish and $10,000 US at Friday's Diamond League final in Brussels. "What I've seen with Shawn, probably over the last year, is a shift in attitude," says part-time coach Jeff Hartwig.

Canadian pole vaulter Shawn Barber carried his recent success into Friday's Diamond League final in Brussels, where he finished third with a jump of 5.83 metres. The 24-year-old will compete at the Continental Cup on Sept. 8-9 in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Canadians in action at the final event of the season include Christabel&nbsp;Nettey (long jump), Mo Ahmed (5000-metres), Shawn Barber (pole vault), and Michael Mason (high jump).
