A South Dakota jury convicted a former American Indian Movement member Friday night of murdering a Nova Scotia Mi'kmaq woman.
Arlo Looking Cloud faces a mandatory life sentence for the 1975 shooting death of Anna Mae Pictou Aquash.
Her frozen body was found in 1976 on South Dakota's Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
According to testimony, AIM members suspected Aquash was an informant for the FBI and wanted her dead.
Another man, Canadian-born John Graham is also charged with first-degree murder in the execution-style killing of Aquash.
In videotaped evidence presented to the jury, Looking Cloud blamed the former Yukoner for the murder.
Graham remains free on bail in Canada and is planning to fight an extradition order to the U.S..
