Two candidates are hoping to give incumbent Eli El-Chantiry a run for his money in the rural west Ottawa ward of West Carleton-March.

El-Chantiry(external link) was first elected to city council in November 2003, and won handily in 2014 with about 57 per cent of the vote.
The two candidates who have stepped up to run against him this time around are:
Candidates who did not provide a website when they registered do not have links to their campaigns.
This ward is among those with the fewest residents in Ottawa but it covers the largest area (more than 760 kilometres square) and therefore contends with a number of different issues, including road quality, access to city services and maintaining a rural lifestyle within city limits.
