OPP are investigating after a 55-year-old man died after being hit by a transport truck Wednesday morning on Highway 401 westbound near Homer Watson Boulevard in Cambridge.
Police described the man as a "pedestrian." It was unclear why the man was on the highway.
"A 55-year-old man from the Waterloo region has been pronounced dead in hospital," OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video posted to Twitter. "At this point, foul play is not suspected but the investigation is still early and ongoing."
The highway was closed from Homer Watson to the Cedar Creek Road/Highway 97 exit for several hours while police investigated. The highway has since reopened.
