Meanwhile, Central Okanagan Emergency Operations has issued an evacuation alert for 933 properties in the area(external link) because of the fire.
Leah Babington lives close to the fire with her husband and two pets and says, so far, no homes have caught on fire.
"Pretty nervous, pretty nervous," she said about watching the blaze.

'It's dry back there'

Babington says the neighbourhood, since she has lived there, has not had a fire, but that it's always in the back of her mind that it could happen.
"Because it's very dry back there," she said. "It's all brush and all trees."
The B.C. Wildfire Service says two air tankers have dropped fire retardant on the blaze, while four helicopters are also doing water drops.
