Toronto police have issued Canada-wide warrants for two men believed to be involved in a daylight shooting at a Scarborough playground that wounded two sisters.
Det. Sgt. Jim Gottell of 42 Division said at a news conference Friday morning that police have been searching tirelessly for the two men but have been unable to locate them so far.
"We believe that they are both in the Toronto area and are being helped by friends or acquaintances to evade arrest," Gottell told reporters at a news conference.
"It is our goal to have the picture of these two gentleman with police officers in every area of Canada."
Gottell said warrants were issued for Tarrick Rhoden and T'Quan Robertson, both 23, on several charges including attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Gottell said both suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.
"We have a lot of police officers who are looking for these two guys right now," said Gottell. "There's no doubt in my mind that we are going to find these guys."
Police have already arrested Sheldon Eriya, 21, of Markham, Ont. He is suspected of driving the vehicle that took the suspects to the playground where the shooting took place.

Victims 'doing well'

The shooting took place around 5 p.m. on June 14 at a housing complex at 10 Alton Towers Circle, near McCowan Road and Steeles Avenue.
Police allege two men shot a total of ten rounds into the crowded playground, targeting another man who was with his child but striking the five and nine-year-old sisters instead.
The nine-year-old girl received a gunshot wound to the leg, just above the ankle and the five-year-old girl received a bullet to the abdomen.
The two victims of the shooting underwent numerous surgeries but are now home and doing well, Gottell said.
Gottell said the intended victim has not been located but that police would like to speak to him in case he can provide information about the suspects, including the motive for the shooting.
