Nalo Hopkinson is the author of nine novels, including the classic dystopian tale Brown Girl in the Ring, which won the Warner Aspect First Novel Contest and was defended on Canada Reads(external link) in 2008 by Jemeni. Her other books include Sister Mine, Midnight Robber, The Chaos, The New Moon's Arms and Skin Folk. She currently lives in Southern California and is a professor of creative writing at the University of California Riverside.
Brown Girl in the Ring is the inspiration for the new film Brown Girl Begins.
