Elizabeth Hay is an Ottawa, Ont.-based writer who has published nine books. Her novels include Late Nights On Air, which won the Scotiabank Giller Prize in 2007, the bestselling books Alone in the Classroom and Garbo Laughs. Her book His Whole Life was a finalist for the 2015 Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize. Her latest book, All Things Consoled, is a memoir that follows her shift from daughter to caregiver to her parents.
All Things Consoled won the 2018 Hilary Weston Writers' Trust Prize for Nonfiction and was a finalist for the 2019 RBC Taylor Prize.
Hay previously was a radio broadcaster in Yellowknife, NWT.
