The trails at Skmaqn-Port La Joye-Fort Amherst, a national historic site on Charlottetown Harbour, are closed after a pair of coyotes followed a person who was walking there.

The first coyote in P.E.I. was snared near Souris in 1983, according to the province's website. Officials believe they crossed the ice from the mainland, and quickly made P.E.I. their home. Now, they're here to stay.

Parks Canada says wildlife conflict experts assessed the situation after a pair of coyotes followed a man walking on the trail. The trails were closed to visitors for 10 days.

Visitors are still being advised by Parks Canada to take precautions when in the area.

Dogs should be kept on a leash no more than three metres in length, and people are advised not to hike alone.

Parks Canada is asking if you see a coyote to report it.

More women dying from strokes than men: Report

In Canada, more women than men are dying as a result of a stroke and they're living with worse outcomes as they recover, according to a report from the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Doctors reserve the right to refuse patients, and according to data from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, doctors mainly refused files because a patient was "unreachable."

Keep an eye out for infectious bird disease, says wildlife pathologist

The Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative is reminding people in the Atlantic Provinces to keep an eye out for birds displaying symptoms of trichomoniasis — a potentially deadly bird disease.

A microscopic parasite (Trichomonas gallinae) causes trichomoniasis, which is an infection in the mouth and throats of birds that makes them unable to swallow.

If you see a coyote, report it to Parks Canada.
