Former Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper is writing a "blueprint for global decision makers" called Right Here, Right Now, examining how populism and disruptive technologies are reshaping western democracies.
"Right Here, Right Now will help readers understand what is driving disruption in the world today. This is a book for readers interested in understanding how politics, business and technology impact our world now and in the future," said Harper in a press release.
One example Harper explores in the book is the election of U.S. President Donald Trump.
"Harper contends that Donald Trump's surprise election and governing agenda clearly signal that political, economic and social institutions must be more responsive to legitimate concerns about public policy, market regulation, immigration and technology," says publisher Penguin Random House on their website.
Right Here, Right Now: Politics and Leadership in the Age of Disruption will be published on Oct. 16, 2018.
Harper was elected Canada's 22nd prime minister in 2006 and led the Conservative party to three consecutive election victories. After nine years in power, Harper was defeated by the Liberal Party with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the helm.
Almost a year after losing the election, Harper gave up his seat in the House of Commons. He currently serves as chairman of International Democrat Union, an alliance of more than 80 centre-right parties from around the world including the Conservative Party of Canada.
