A motorcycle rider is in&nbsp;critical condition in hospital after a serious crash on Portage Avenue Saturday afternoon. 

A minivan and motorcycle collided on the westbound side of&nbsp;Portage between&nbsp;Home and Arlington streets around 2:15 p.m., Winnipeg police said.

East and westbound lanes of Portage are closed around the collision scene as police investigate.

Former Manitoba attorney general, LGBTQ champion Roland Penner dies

The former MLA who introduced the province's Human Rights Code and championed the inclusion of sexual orientation as a protected status in that code has died.

Roland Penner died on Thursday, May 31, 2018, said his daughter.
