Police say a 50-year-old teacher in Abbotsford is facing sexual assault and exploitation charges.
The Abbotsford Police Department says Henry Kang, a resident of the city, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual exploitation.
Police say he taught at Robert Bateman and W.J. Mouat secondary schools.
The APD said it launched an investigation into an allegation of sexual assault in January after it received a complaint about Kang that was made to the Abbotsford School District.
The district said in a news release that Kang was placed on leave pending the completion of the investigation.
"We are deeply concerned about these allegations, and will continue to cooperate with the Abbotsford Police Department and Crown as this matter is investigated," it said in a statement from Superintendent Kevin Godden
Other victims
In a news release, police said there are — so far — two victims who were youths at the time of the incidents. Police are asking other victims to come forward.
Meanwhile the district says the safety of students is its top priority.
"Every day we commit to providing safe and caring learning environments for all of our students, and we will continue to ensure that this is the case in all of our schools."
Kang is expected to appear in court in June.
