Suspect fled on bike after woman grabbed her can of dog spray
Calgary police are on the hunt for a man suspected in a sexual assault last week at Weaselhead Flats park in the city's southwest.
Police say that around 5:45 p.m. on May 18, a woman was walking on Jack Rabbit Trail when she was passed by a man on a mountain bike.
Around 15 minutes later, the man returned, put his bike on the ground and asked the woman for information about the trails, police say.
The woman was then allegedly grabbed from behind and dragged into the nearby bushes by the suspect. Police say the suspect removed his pants to his knees and started touching the woman in a sexual manner.
The woman managed to escape her attacker's grasp and reached for her can of dog spray. The suspect rode off on his bike as soon as he saw the spray, police say.
Police describe the suspect as a darker-skinned man in his early to mid-20s, around five feet seven inches tall with a muscular build. Police say he was wearing jeans but no shirt and had a bandana or T-shirt wrapped around his wrists.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers.
