Elderly woman killed by C-Train in northeast Calgary

LRT service was disrupted between Whitehorn and McKnight stations
An elderly female pedestrian was struck and killed by a C-Train at the intersection of 39th Avenue and 36th Street N.E. in Calgary.
It happened just before 9 a.m. Wednesday, police say. The woman was declared dead at the scene.
Police said in a release that no further details about the victim or the cause of the collision are yet available.
Officers with the CPS traffic section are investigating.
C-Train service between the Whitehorn and McKnight stations was disrupted for about two hours while crews worked at the scene. Roads that were closed near the incident have since reopened.
