As royal watchers around the world wait for the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan's first child, here's a look back at the babies who came before.
Harry and Meghan's baby will be the Queen's eighth great-grandchild, but the most talked-about to date have been Prince William and Kate's three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
All three of William and Kate's children were born at St. Mary's Hospital in London. After each birth, William and Kate brought the new baby out to the hospital steps, where they introduced the child to the world.
Harry and Meghan are taking a different approach, with a public announcement expected after they've had time to celebrate privately.

Prince Louis

Louis, William and Kate's most recent arrival, was born on April 23, 2018. Kate, 36 at the time, delivered the baby, weighing eight pounds, seven ounces, at St. Mary's Hospital in London at 6:01 a.m. ET.

Charlotte and George were both part of the wedding party at Meghan and Harry's nuptials: Charlotte was a bridesmaid and George was a page boy. The wedding party for the May 19, 2018, ceremony was surely an energetic group — all 10 members were children.

Including their visit to Canada

In 2016, William and Kate brought Charlotte and George along on a trip to Canada. Here, the family is seen as they arrive on Vancouver Island in September 2016. Later, they attended a children's party at Government House in Victoria.

Young William is introduced to the world

The arrival of a royal baby high in the line of succession has been a major media event in the past few decades. In June 1982, a crowd gathered outside St. Mary's hoping for a glimpse of the first-born child of Prince Charles and Diana through a window.
Instead, the parents brought their new son outside and introduced him to the world — a tradition William and Kate continued.

What's next?

It's not clear exactly when baby Sussex is expected, though it is expected sometime in late April or early May.
Meghan and Harry kept busy and attended official events throughout Megan's pregnancy, including this Commonwealth Day youth event at Canada House in London in March.

Whenever the baby arrives, the next royal birth will likely be announced differently — instead of a wave from the steps, some expect the announcement to come digitally.(external link)
