A 29-year-old St. Catharines man is facing charges
A St. Catharines man is facing charges after allegedly using pepper spray in a government building.
Niagara regional police say surveillance footage from last Wednesday shows a man spraying an unknown substance in the elevator area on the second floor of a Ministry of Transportation building in downtown St. Catharines.
A 29-year-old man arrested on Friday and charged with mischief and administration of a noxious substance.
On Monday, police said the suspect admitted to them that he had sprayed what he called "dog irritant" in the building.
Police say forensic testing determined that the substance was in fact pepper spray.
The man is being held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing set for Wednesday.
