Former Homeless Foundation board member will be tried next year on 9 charges
The former Homeless Foundation board member who admitted to doing drugs with vulnerable teens and is facing a trial on charges of sexual assault and child pornography has been re-arrested for breaching the conditions of his bail.
Robin Wortman, 63, faces two new charges: accused of planning to attend a place or function where youth may gather and possessing an electronic device capable of accessing the internet.
Wortman remains in custody. The investigation surrounding his conduct while on bail is ongoing and more charges could be laid, according to authorities.
Last year, Wortman was found not guilty of raping a homeless teen even though the judge said she did not believe his testimony.
During the trial, Wortman — who lived in an apartment across the street from Avenue 15, a shelter for homeless youth — testified he bought and smoked crystal meth with underage girls and boys who were more than 45 years younger than him.
Wortman faces a second trial on nine other charges, including sexual assault, sexual exploitation, drug trafficking and child pornography-related offences. That trial is set for March 2019.
On Monday, Wortman will appear on his latest breach charges.
