Some P.E.I. schools closed due to freezing rain

Freezing rain warning was lifted late Wednesday morning

Schools in the Westisle family on P.E.I. were closed Wednesday, while other English public schools opened one hour late due to freezing rain.
In the French Language School Board, École Pierre-Chaisson in DeBlois is closed for the day, while other French schools opened one hour later than usual.
Freezing rain or drizzle fell intermittently through the night in Charlottetown. The freezing rain warning was lifted late in the morning.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement regarding the overnight forecast for Wednesday.
The temperature is expected to climb to 9 C Wednesday and then fall quickly to -9 C overnight. This could lead to icy conditions, including black ice, Thursday morning.
