After a weekend of mild, spring-like temperatures, a slow-moving cold front is making its way to Waterloo region and southern Wellington County, bringing 10 to 15 centimetres of snow by later tonight.

"Snow is spreading east into the region from Lower Michigan this morning and will continue this afternoon and into tonight as the disturbance moves through," said Environment Canada in a special weather statement issued Monday morning.

The snowy weather could make for poor driving conditions due to snowfall and poor visibility.

As a result, closure of the Victoria Street bridge on Highway 7 has been delayed until Tuesday.

Northern Wellington county can expect to see a bit less snow than the areas around Guelph, Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge; five to 10 centimetres is forecast, with up to 15 centimetres possible in some parts.

Cambridge and North Dumfries have both declared snow events.

The Cambridge snow event is in effect from 11 p.m. Monday to 11 p.m. Tuesday. Vehicles left parked on the road may be ticketed or towed.

In North Dumfries, the snow event is in place for Monday afternoon and evening. Residents are asked not to park vehicles on the road overnight.
