Employee examined by medical team after small amount of unknown powder escaped package
An unknown white powder that caused a stir in Saskatoon on Thursday turned out to be harmless.
Saskatoon police and firefighters were called to the Canada Post distribution centre on Avenue H Thursday morning after a small amount of the powder escaped from a package.
An employee was examined by a medical team and traffic restrictions were put in place while the Saskatoon fire department removed the package from the building for testing.
Further testing showed the substance to be 1-chloro-3-pentanone, which is used in the manufacturing of cosmetics.
The fire department says the package has been returned to Canada Post.
