Local woman Holly Hamilton was stabbed to death, police say.
The results from a post-mortem examination on her body were made public in a police news release Friday afternoon.
"There will be no further information released in relation to her injuries or the type of weapon involved," the news release reads.
Hamilton's ex-boyfriend, Justin Dumpfrey, was charged Thursday with second-degree murder a day after her body was found in the trunk of her car in a parking garage in the city's east end.
Dumpfrey is also the father of Hamilton's young daughter.
Wednesday's grisly discovery of her body marked the end of a citywide search for the 29-year-old, who was reported missing on Monday.
Police say there had been a documented history of domestic violence in the couple's relationship.
"Police had been involved in their relationship before as a result of violence," said Staff Sgt. Dave Oleniuk at a press conference yesterday. "He had been charged before."
Detectives also say Dumpfrey was under a probation order that had conditions regarding his ex.
In a statement released today, Hamilton's brother Cass Hamilton lamented the domestic violence that has torn his family apart.
"Holly is at peace now but my family and I along with other families affected by domestic violence will never be," he said.
Hamilton said a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help pay for funeral costs and act as a trust fund for his sister's four-year-old daughter.
As of Friday afternoon, it had raised just under $15,000 of a $20,000 goal.
