Edgar Zapata owns Marvel Pizza on Hale Street, next to where the cyclist was hit. He was working when he heard the sirens of emergency crews rushing to the scene.
"I walked outside and I saw a bike on the street and a school bag [on the ground]. The bike was mangled, the frame was completely bent."
"I felt really sad," he said.
Police temporarily closed Dundas Street between Highbury Avenue and Hale Street for their investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
