Police identify teen stabbed to death in Vanier

Zakaria Iqbal, 18, has been identified as the victim in Monday night's homicide in Vanier, Ottawa police have confirmed.
Iqbal was fatally stabbed near the intersection of Montreal Road and Lajoie Street around 9:30 p.m. during what police described was a fight.
His death is the city's 14th homicide of 2017 and is still being investigated by the Ottawa police major crime unit.
His cousins described Iqbal, who went to Gloucester High School, as hard-working and studious.

Police arrived first on scene and found the young man on the ground with no vital signs. Officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived and took over care before sending him to hospital.
Lajoie Street was closed overnight between Montreal Road and Lévis Avenue, and reopened early Tuesday morning.
