Ghislain Poirier(external link) is a Montreal DJ/producer whose block parties have attracted crowds for a few years now. He calls himself a "connector," and by that he means he encourages collaboration with musical styles and artists from the Caribbean to Quebec.
His Migration Soundsystem(external link) project began last year — he performs with dancers and music influenced by African and Caribbean beats. This summer, he performed with the project under the Van Horne viaduct for Montreal's 375th anniversary celebration block party, and CBC Arts stopped by to meet some members of Poirier's crew and find out why Montreal has been the perfect city for Poirier to collaborate in.
