The 2017 edition of the Windsor International Film Festival (external link)will feature virtual reality experiences, filmmaker challenges and more than 100 movies made in Windsor-Essex and around the world.
This year's event has been extended to seven days and will run from October 30 to November 5.
It will feature 113 films from 20 different countries — 25 per cent of the films are francophone.
There will be 151 screenings, including Canadian features, documentaries and short films.

Virtual reality and a 48-hour challenge

Eighteen of the films will be pre-release titles, meaning they'll be screened at the festival before their scheduled release dates.
"We are delighted to showcase these films, not only as Windsor premiers, but ahead of their national theatrical release," stated WIFF executive director Vincent Georgie in a media release.
The festival will also include eight virtual reality experiences and FlickFest — a 48-hour challenge that will push filmmakers to shoot and cut a short film in just two days.
