Edmonton police are investigating a shooting death near Commonwealth Stadium Wednesday evening.
The Edmonton Police Service said officers were called to a weapons complaint at a multi-unit residence near 94th Street and 111th Avenue at approximately 5:45 p.m.
Police arrived on the scene and found an elderly man dead on the floor of the building's common area.
The homicide unit has taken over the investigation. An autopsy has not yet been scheduled, according to police.
Several EPS vehicles were still on the scene late Wednesday evening and police had taped off approximately three blocks around the building.
Stephen Gallard lives down the street from the crime scene. He said he sees police near the house in question approximately twice a week.
"There's quite often feuds and fights and screaming and yelling and clothes being thrown out the door," he said. "It's a ritual around here."
