The woman with the longest eyelashes in the world says it's about becoming one with nature

Um, could camping boost your lash game?
How full is too full? How thick is too thick? Only the ghost of cosmetics future will tell. But we may have found the high end of too long. I'd venture that no mascara product can give you what Guinness Book World Record holder, You Jianxia, has fluttering about on her eyelids. The 49-year-old from Changzhou, Jiangsu, China has the longest lashes on the planet. Ranked.
Jianxia holds the title specifically for longest eyelash, singular. Her upper left eyelid holds one luscious lash measured at a record smashing 12.4 cm, almost 5 inches long. The others aren't far behind creating a unique, face tassels look. I'm instinctively curling my lip and blowing air on my cheeks to combat a sympathetic itch. Undeniably, she has long, healthy, smooth and manageable eyeball hair. What's her secret? Jianxia maintains it's because she's the outdoorsy type. On an industrious eighteen-month nature retreat she undertook back in 2013 she noticed a marked jump in eyelash growth. Guinness adds "she puts the growth down to the life she leads at one with nature". Maybe go for more walks this fall and line up some serious canoe trips for next summer if you've been suffering from lacklustre lashes.
No info was given on whether the nature retreat was near the site of a fallen meteor or if she's been moonlighting as a crime fighter whose power is prehensile lashes — but I have my doubts.
Along with a robust list of tallest, oldest, heaviest, fastest, slowest, strongest, (all the ests, really) Guinness recently sent out their annual press release. There were some notable outliers, not the least of which was Jianxia and her lashes. But should your curiosity be piqued, some other worthy mentions were the oldest bodybuilder (85 years and 6 days old), the highest hightop fade (20.5 inches), the longest cat tail (17.58 inches, cat's name: Cygnus), and the longest fingernail, again singular (18 feet, 10.9 inches). Check out the other records here.
Bonus history blurb:
Eugene Rimmel is credited as the man who "invented" mascara in 1834 (he was also known as the "Prince of Perfumers" and dominated the Victorian cosmetics game. Rimmel gets a nod but the ancient Egyptians obviously put eye makeup on the global map. Still, the mascara we recognize today was the concoction of an American chemist named T.L. Williams in 1913. According to lash legend, Williams' sister, Mabel, was in love with her boyfriend, Chet, but he'd fallen for another. Old T.L. rushed to her aid in the name of romance. He mushed up vaseline with coal dust and had his sister paint her eyelashes. Not only did she turn Chet's heart, they were married within a year. The mash up of the words Mabel and Vaseline gave us the makeup mega brand, Maybelline.
On the basis of this legend alone, the mascara industry is in no danger of lagging sales. People will continue to chase the fuller, thicker, longer lash look with product. Jianxia, with exception of course, will just takes to the woods.
