Justin Rory Hopkins-Jones surrendered to police Monday evening
A man who police believe drove over and seriously injured his girlfriend in southeast Calgary nearly two weeks ago has turned himself in.
Justin Rory Hopkins-Jones, 28, surrendered to police on Monday, after his girlfriend was injured in a hit and run on Chaparral Boulevard on Aug. 25.
Hopkins-Jones is now charged with:
- One count of assault, assault with a weapon
- Assault causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by a peace officer
- As well as seven counts of failing to comply with a court order.
The incident began when the woman jumped out of a moving pickup truck, said Staff Sgt. Avril Martin of the domestic conflict unit.

Hopkins-Jones allegedly ran over her and attempted to pull her back inside. But onlookers got involved and stopped him.
"In my opinion, they possibly did save her life by intervening and trying to assist her while this incident was going on," Martin said.
Hopkins-Jones then fled, according to police, who called in a helicopter and tried to pull him over at a traffic stop.
He was seen driving a rented 2017 silver Ford F-150 pickup.
The 28-year-old Calgarian is known to police, who have been called out to other domestic incidents involving the couple, said Martin.
