Charges laid in Canmore explosion that destroyed home, damaged others

Charges include failure to ensure the safety of a worker

Charges have been laid under Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety Act over an explosion in Canmore that blew up an empty home and damaged several others.
A contractor excavating for footings and foundations at a construction site on 13th Street struck a gas main on June 26, 2015.

The gas company had time to evacuate nearby homes and no one was hurt, although one worker was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
APM Construction Services now faces seven charges under the act, and Ground Zero Grading is charged with six counts.
The charges include failure to ensure the safety of a worker.
Two individuals are also facing the same charge: Jerry Arbeau and Andrew Pacaud.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
