Police searching Red River for missing teen swimmer

Youth disappeared after swimming half way across the river, witness tells police

Dive teams have been searching the Red River since Tuesday for a teenage boy who disappeared while swimming across it.
Winnipeg police were called to the Red River north of the Harry Lazarenko Bridge about 9:10 p.m. on Aug. 15. A witness told police the boy had swum half way across the river before he disappeared.
Police searched the river and the opposite river bank, but found no sign of him.
Winnipeg police said the boy is 16, but his name has not been made public.
The search continues.
