An officer with a First Nations police force in Manitoba has been charged after an investigation by the Brandon Police Service.
In May, allegations were made against the member of the Dakota Ojibway Police Service, which provides policing services to several southern Manitoba First Nations communities.
Brandon police were called in to do the investigation.
On Friday, Brandon police said the officer has been charged with assault.
The investigation was monitored by Manitoba's Independent Investigation Unit, which investigates all serious incidents involving police officers in Manitoba, whether occurring on- or off-duty.
