Data will be used to help job seekers understand what skills and education they need to fill roles
Biologists, pharmacists and machinists are just a few of the jobs in hot demand in the Windsor region, according to a new employment list designed to help people find work.
Workforce Windsor-Essex, the area's employment planning council, has developed a list of the top 75 in-demand jobs.
"There are a lot of jobs on the list. Not all of them, believe it or not, but there's a lot," said Justin Falconer, the group's manager of communications. "And that's really indicative of the economic situation in Windsor-Essex right now — we're on the up. Demand is high for new talent and for certain skills."
Other positions on the list include software developers, construction managers and truck drivers.
The list, which is not ranked, was developed by collecting data through a number of sources including online job postings, employer surveys and media reports.
Workforce WindsorEssex plans to use the data to to develop an online resource for job seekers.
"In the fall, you'll be able to click on these jobs and [we'll] tell you everything from the skills to the pay you can make in these jobs, the educational or training pathways to get into these jobs and the careers that you can have," Falconer said.
