Call it a team effort.
Police dogs, civilians and a popular satellite communications service known for giving drivers directions teamed with Saskatoon police Thursday to help capture a man who allegedly stole a vehicle while being unlawfully at large.
Officers with the Saskatoon Police Service were sent to the 500 block of Cynthia Street at about1:30 p.m. CST after OnStar, the direction-giving satellite car service, reported a vehicle being stolen.
"OnStar retained an open line of communication with police, advising officers of the route of the suspect vehicle," according to a police press release issued Friday.
When police tried to stop the car at one corner, the suspect, 34, whom police have not named, drove away "at a high rate of speed."

Staffers detain man

The man eventually got out of the car near Circle Drive, east of Warman Road, at which point police dogs tracked him to a nearby area.
Meanwhile, workers at a business in the area "detained" the man in their building and reported it to police.
The man was then arrested without trouble. The plate he was driving with turned out to be stolen, too, according to police.
He's facing charges including possession of stolen property over $5,000, driving while impaired and possession of methamphetamine.
