First and foremost, J.D. Renaud is a hell of a good storyteller.
The show regales us with fantastic stories and the truth and lies that weave throughout them. Performers use lies to tell the truth, but whose truth? Renaud takes us behind the curtain and shows us what goes into the 'hotdogs' of storytelling, trying to find the heart of what connects us to truth and moments of human connection.
It's a heck of a roller coaster ride. At times, Renaud is frustrating - it's like he explaines storytelling as a magic trick then reveals how he does it. But this is needed to lay the groundwork to build to his deconstructing - and going truly meta - with his final act.

To his credit, I can't stop thinking about his show.
