Two unemployed men find work at a little girl's lemonade stand - and what could be a decent two-minute bit in a sketch-comedy show is needlessly dragged out into a 90-minute musical.
Unfortunately, the strength of the music in The Standoff couldn't save this production. The backing musicians were solid, the original songs were a treat, the lyrics were strong, the harmonies were fantastic ... but then there was all this time where they weren't singing.
There are some laughs but most of the jokes give off a cheesy dad joke vibe. Thank goodness for family and friends in the audience.
You can see the talent waiting to find its voice, but in this production, it's just not there. - Bradley Sawatzky
There is talent here. Despite all I've just said, I will gladly go to watch Cuinn & Connor Joseph in the future. You can see the talent waiting to find its voice, but in this production, it's just not there.
