Woman dies after being struck by vehicle in Sydney Mines

Victim and accused knew one another, police say
A 28-year-old woman has died in hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Sydney Mines, N.S., police say, and a second woman has been charged with second-degree murder and criminal negligence causing death.
Cape Breton Regional Police said they responded to a call about a collision on Oxford Avenue at around 7 a.m. on Friday.
The victim was transported first to Cape Breton Regional Hospital and then to Halifax where she succumbed to her injuries. Police have yet to release her name as they notify next of kin.
Arrest made 'shortly after collision'
Police said in a news release that the victim and the 36-year-old accused knew one another.
The woman from Sydney Mines was arrested "shortly after the collision," the release said.
She was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre and is due to appear in Sydney provincial court on Monday.
