If you're looking for a traditional, well-performed drama at the Fringe, this local production may hit the spot
Playwright Laurie Duncan's story is set in mid-'70s Maine, where a widow (Muriel Hogue) living in a shuttered bed and breakfast receives a visitor (Harry Nelken) during a terrible storm.
Discovering why something seems odd about this Texan who shows up in the middle of a storm is the focus of Duncan's 75-minute play — a drawing-room drama that may seem old-fashioned and feel a tad creaky in spots, but also has an appealingly gothic flavour to it.
What really sells Eastport, though, are outstanding performances from Hogue and Nelken.

It's not the most daring or flashy show you'll see at the Fringe, but it is good solid drama.
