Wildly unprepared show would have been better to withdraw from the festival
Rating: ★★
Company: Randy Rutherford Presents
Genre: Storytelling
Venue: 11- Red River College (Robin Centre)
It's a horrible sign when the artist warns you before they start that the show is not ready - that he's been sick, the songs aren't ready, his hearing aids have been turned down so he won't be able to tell if he's off pitch, having to call for lines or just reading right off the script.
Maybe the smarter choice would've been to pull out and return next year?
Aim For the Heart is a tale of falling in love with a new girlfriend and their attempts to heal each other. It's not grounded, jumps are made and it feels he might be making some of it up on the spot as he struggles to find his line.
