Join CBC Toronto to celebrate one of summer's most spectacular events of Indigenous sport and culture! Bring your family down to the CBC Broadcasting Centre to watch the Opening Ceremony of the Toronto 2017 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) on July 16. We'll have giveaways for fans of all ages - and a kids colouring station!
With more than 5000 participants, 2000 volunteers and 14 sport categories for young athletes, the Games are expected to be the largest sport and cultural gathering of Indigenous Peoples from across North America from July 16 to 23. The Opening Ceremony will feature choreography from world-renowned Indigenous performer, Santee Smith, in addition to a number of award winning Indigenous musical artists, representing First Nations, Inuit and Metis communities.
