9-storey office tower will be completed by 2019
Saskatoon's skyline will be getting a little taller.
Construction on World Trade Center Saskatoon is expected to begin this fall. The nine-storey office tower will be located on 22nd Street between Third and Fourth Avenues.
"World Trade Center Saskatoon is about creating, retaining and expanding jobs, and raising the international profile of the city and the province," said Don Atchison, senior consultant with Canwest in a press release.
"WTC will help to leverage global government and business connections that help foster investment and trade opportunities in the province."
The office tower, built by Canwest Commercial and Land Corporation, will feature 15,000 square feet of working space per floor, a lecture theatre located on the penthouse, and space for conferences and professional development sessions.
The project will also be granted official membership into the World Trade Centers Association, a network of 320 properties in more than 90 countries around the world.
Canwest's sister company, North Prairie Developments, has been working on the project since 2013. At one point, the company said it planned to build a 31-storey condo tower and another 19-storey office tower. The two buildings would be the tallest towers in the province.
Construction on World Trade Center Saskatoon is expected to finish by 2019.
