Police are investigating after the break-in of a storage trailer in the Canavoy, P.E.I., area that included the theft of two firearms.
RCMP said a person or people cut the lock on the trailer sometime between June 17 and July 8 and took the firearms as well as "a number" of other items.
The trailer was full of household items as a man was moving from one property to another.
One of the firearms was a .410 shotgun and the other was a .22 rifle, said police.
"Any time a firearm is not in the hands of the owner [and] we're not sure what the intent of the person stealing them is, we're concerned," said Sgt. Chris Gunn of the Kings District RCMP
Gunn said it's a rural area and the theft happened on private property, but people driving by on Route 2 may have seen something.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 1-902-687-9300.
