Man, 50, dead after explosion Thursday in Iqaluit neighbourhood

2 other men were medevaced south for treatment

A fifty-year-old man has died as the result of an explosion that occurred between two homes on Ben Ell Drive in Iqaluit at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Two other men, 57 and 26, were injured in the blast and have been medevaced south for treatment. The RCMP say they are both in stable condition.
No foul play is suspected in the explosion that also damaged a boat. The office of the Chief Coroner has determined the death to be accidental.
RCMP have handed the investigation off to the coroner and the Workers' Safety and Compensation Commission, who will continue to investigate.
It's unknown what caused the explosion.
