How to teach your dog: "drop it!" – so they'll release what's in their mouth

This cue is great in a variety of situations when your curious pup just wants to bite everything in sight

This week Gordon is back! Danielle(external link) is teaching him to "drop it" — the perfect cue if your pup picks up a sock, a toy, or something icky out on the street that you don't want in their mouth.
Set your pup up for success by knowing how and when to reward them as they learn to let go on cue. Then, the more you practice this, the more accustomed to it they will become. After awhile, the cue will come naturally and no treat reward will be needed!
